RAILFAN SERIES, PART IX VHS

This program picks up where Railfan Series Part VIII left off in Baldwin Yard, Florida. The first 29 minutes completes our visit to the Sunshine State and then we head back to the Garden State for some action in Winslow Junction as the SRNJ runs a F7, F3 A-B-A set on a light engine move. Next, we catch CR MAIL-3 at Pattenburg, NJ before looking at both of the Lehigh Valley tunnels in Musconetcong Mountain. Then it's north to the Southern Tier in Binghamton and lots of CP action. We visit two former LV stations and one NYO&W station that now serve as centers for historical groups. Back in Binghamton, we see a 0-4-0 locomotive of a different type shove a car into a building. Upon leaving Binghamton, we were going to chase CP symbol freight 556 to Scranton. The video of 556 passing through Conklin was the last we saw of her! While waiting in Nicholson for the train to cross Tuckhannock Viaduct we heard the 556 reporting its arrival in Scranton's Taylor Yard! We revisit Pattenburg on a crisp fall day and we can actually see through both of the tunnels. The earlier shots were done on a hot, humid and hazy day. Finally, we see a glimpse of the SRNJ's first passenger train just before her maiden run along with a brand new SRNJ paint scheme on F7 #727 that reflects an early Rock Island style livery. Also with fresh nose paint is NYC FA1 #1111. Videotaped in 1994. 120 Minutes
