2102 - RETURN OF THE RAMBLES 2102 In Excursion Service In 1985, famed ex-Reading Class T-1 4-8-4 2102 returned to main line service. This great program covers trips from Reading to Harrisburg and also to Jim Thorpe. PA. You'll see the 2102 perform high speed runbys as a variety of interesting and photogenic locations. An interesting sequence features the big 4-8-4 crawling through the PN&NE yard in Bethlehem. There are also night views of the locomotive at the Reading Shops and a meeting with ex-CP 4-6-0 972 at Jim Thorpe. As a special bonus, we've also included coverage of famed Nickel Plate 2-8-4 765 on an excursion from buffalo to Corning, NY. Beginning with a short history of the famous Reading T-1 class, the program offers a brief overview of the 2102's career as a excursion locomotive, from the famed Reading Rambles of the early 1960s to her purchase by the BM&R. The host Jim Boyd, Editor of Railfan Magazine, follows the 2102 as she hauls coal over the former Reading main line. Three camera crews provide full coverage of this event - the first time a Reading T-1 has pulled a coal train on home rails since steam was retired!
