New York City to Philadelphia
Pentrex is proud to present an exclusive look at Amtrak's pride and joy, the Northeast Corridor. Produced with Amtrak's cooperation, this video focuses on the electrified, heavily-trafficked south end of the line from New York City to Philadelphia.
Once owned by the Pennsylvania Railroad, the corridor is an interesting mix of old and new technologies. Trains roar down the electrified mainline at speeds of up to 125 miles-per-hour. This section of the corridor is governed by Automatic Block Signals and is manually dispatched from Philadelphia. Yet manned block towers dating back to the turn of the century can still be found in use on the line. This is in stark contrast to the welded rail, concrete ties, modern trains and higher speeds achieved on the corridor in recent years.
You'll experience non-stop Amtrak and commuter train activity at Penn Station, Hudson Tower, Newark, Trenton, Princeton Junction and Zoo Interlocking. You'll also visit busy "A" tower in New York City and Zoo Tower in Philadelphia. Both of these venerable interlocking towers will be replaced in the near future.
The train action between New York City and Philadelphia never lets up. Come with Pentrex for a look at over 150 different trains in action during this exciting visit to Amtrak's Northeast Corridor!
