This colorful program presents a wide variety of marine traffic in New York Harbor, ranging from huge ocean liners to tugboats, filmed from around 1940 to the late 1960s.
Among the great liners depicted are the Queen Elizabeth, Queen Mary, United States, Liberte, Independence, Queen of Bermuda, Parthia, Caronia, Brittanic and Mauretania.
Railroad ferries include: Lackawanna's Pocono, Elmira, Binghamton, Maplewood, Scranton and Lackawanna; New York Central's Utica, Niagara; CNJ's Red Bank, Somerville; and Erie's Youngstown, Meadville and Arlington.
There are also sections featuring a New York Central tugboat and care float, and a rare short describing tugboats in New York harbor, with special emphasis on the docking of the huge super liner United States.
