In October 1996, famed C&O 4-8-4, 614 pulled a series of six round trip excursions between Hoboken, NJ and Port Jervis, NY. Dubbed the Erie Limited, these trips were the first main line runs for the 614 in more than eleven years.
This Official Video presents the full story of C&O 614, from its construction in 1948 through its rebirth as an excursion engine. Through rare archive photos and film, you'll see the 614 in regular service on C&O, hauling the Chessie Safety Express in 1980, and pulling heavy coal trains son the Chessie System in January 1985. The, thrill to the sights and sounds of super Power steam in action as the powerful 4-8-4 blasts through tunnels, climbs steep grades, and roars down the rails at 80 mph with the 26 car Erie Limited.
